About our Hon. Consul of Niue in Tokyo - Jayson Vemoa

Living in Japan for 20 plus years.

Born in New Zealand, Aotearoa hailing from his father’s village of Tamahaleleka, Liku in Niue, the Land of Sunshine also known as the Savage Islands and more fondly know as the Rock of Polynesia. His mother is Kuki Arani who’s ancestors hail from Mangaia, Cook Islands known as the Friendly Islands.

He was originally brought to Nippon the land of the Rising Sun for his Martial Arts which he immersed himself into the Budo Culture of the Samurai lands attaining a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate during his first 10 years in Japan.

Jayson Vemoa is a former exponent of professional Muay Thai, formerly trained in New Zealand by legendary Pacific Island Combat Coach Lolo Heimuli (Tonga) who also played an integral part in securing Niue’s first-ever MEDAL at the 2022 Commonwealth Games Birmingham gaining BRONZE with Niuean boxer Duken_Tutakitoa-Williams.

Vemoa san himself also earnt a few acolades in his past professional athlete career amassing NZ, South Pacific, CommonWealth, Intercontinental Championship Titles belts eventually becaming World Muay Thai Champion 1998.

In early 2000’s he was then contracted to move to Japan for the Kakutougi coaching role for the famous Polynesian combat athlete of those times Ray Sefo (NZ/USA-Samoa) for the prestigious K-1 World Grand Prix in which the Final 8 Champions of each of the continents of the World contested for K-1 WGP Champion supremcy each year at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

Vemoa san contiuned helping professional fighters training at his gym in Japan like Jordan Tai (Cook Islands),Doug Viney (Tonga), Glaube Feitosa (Brazil), Ewerton Texieira (Brazil) and then onto the UFC Ultimate Fighting Championships with Mark Hunt (Samoa, AUS)

Currently Vemoa san continues his love of martial arts studying Brazilian Jiujitsu with Steve Oliver based in NZ at OliverMMA. Steve is son of the famous NZ Don Oliver, Weightlifting Gold 1966 CommonWealth Games.

Vemoa still trains his niche market private clientele in Japan in Martial Arts.

From Japan, Vemoa san has sponsored and supported Niue sporting teams from Niue, Womens Rugby Sevens, Niue Rugby League, Niue Boxing and Niue Womens Weightlight for NZ, South Pacific and Commonwealth Games. He also supports Niue Primary Education in Niue Island through his Japan-Niue Friendship Charity Organization established since 2016.

Vemoa san is now based in Aobadai Meguro-ku Japan at the Honorary Consulate of Niue in Tokyo helping to keep the same energy continuing, with helping Niue people and others travelling abraad visiting Japan as a Hon. Consul of Niue in Tokyo.
